HiPerWare is changing the approach to commercial building retrofit projects by offering the industry accurate and systematic technical conclusions. These are based on analysis of process signatures of utility systems within the object of optimisation. Analysis is performed to identify both the 'normal, correct' process patterns of systems and 'typical' or 'unusual' anomalies. The platform's built-in AI module automates the search, highlighting known patterns and streamlining the expert's work to make it more precise. Such analysis cannot be done using traditional BMS or SCADA systems for monitoring and dispatching. Case study: Case: A+ class office centre, 44,000 m². The DHW (domestic hot water supply) system has a built-in heat recovery function. This function extracts heat from the chillers of the cooling system. This ensures that energy waste from the air conditioning system is converted (ReUse) into useful energy for the DHW system. Problem: Analysis of the installation revealed an error made by the installation team. The heat exchanger had been incorrectly connected to the return line of the local hot water system instead of the cold water line as it was designed in the project. This misconfiguration caused the heat transfer fluid to affect the temperature readings and performance of the hot water supply incorrectly. Solution: Once the issue was identified, corrective actions were taken to reconfigure the connections. The heat exchanger was properly integrated into the system before the return line for the local hot water system to ensure it effectively utilises waste heat from the cooling system. The result: Post-correction data analysis showed that the heat recovery system was successfully preheating the cold water supply. The correct integration of the heat exchanger optimised the overall performance of both the cooling and heating systems. Preheating the cold water lowered the energy required for heating, resulting in decreased energy and operational costs without incurring any costly repairs.
